Hearthstone Mini-Expansion - Warsong Gulch (Hearthstone Custom Set)

Introduction

Warsong Gulch is one of the most popular battlegrounds among old World of Warcraft fans. With its simplicity and charm, it draws us into the midst of the battle. Inspired by this theme, I decided to make a small custom set for Hearthstone. It consists of 6 cards for the Warrior class.  Why exactly a Warrior? Because Warrior embodies everything we see on Warsong Gulch: Stupidity, Bloodshed, and some attempts at strategy (which almost always fails in a regular World of Warcraft random battleground). All cards were designed to fit Rush Warrior archetype. Rush is an attack ability that gives a minion an option to attack other minions the same turn it is summoned. I made all cards in hearthstone custom card builders - Hearthcards. So let's start a little presentation of some new Hearthstone custom cards.

Silverwing Avenger

Warsong Gulch Tunnel

Warsong Gulch Tunnel is where most of the carnage takes place. For the sake of the treasured flag, the most reckless fighters break through the center and push forward. Fractured in Alterac Valley has brought a new unique sub-type of spells for Hearthstone - locations. I liked the idea of temporary buffs, so I decided to make such a card. It's great synergy with minions that can attack and trade on it's first turn. You can also make OTK out of this along with E.T.C., God of Metal, but this will only be available in Hearthstone Wild Mode. Overall, Warsong Gulch Tunnel is a cool location that gives Warrior class an aggressive fighting advantage on the board.

Combat Survivor

Yes, ressurect is not exactly the right mechanic for the Warrior... But that has changed since Hearthstone's Forged in the Barrens expansion. High Overlord Saurfang confirmed the idea of a non-magical rebirth. In the lore it can be explained that the survivability of the berserker warrior is so strong that even a lethal blow does not always accomplish its goal. So Combat Survivor does roughly the same thing as High Inquisitor Whitemane, but in a more aggressive manner. By the way, the name of this card came to me from the song Survivor - Eye of the Tiger. Alas, Eye of the Tiger name is already occupied by Monk's talent.

Flag Capturer

The main reason why battles in Warsong Gulch do not go on for so long. Flag Capturer should be considered as such a dual purpose minion. First, he can kill a minion with 4 health. Second, he may not attack and boost his health to withhold more hits. Blizzard doesn't do that kind of card in Hearthstone very often, so why not. 

Graveyard Stayer

Here's the crowd favorite. You can always find him on your team. He brings zero value, but he still does not give up and rushes into action against enemies who overpower him in numbers and skills. Graveyard Stayer has synergy with Combat Survivor, you can easily revive his copy and make your opponent cry from despair. Overall in Hearthstone 10/10 stats for 4 turns and 6 mana is an average investment, but along with other cards in Rush Warrior archetype Graveyard Stayer can look great. 

Battlemaster Gargok

Battlemaster Gargok is a kind of parody of Edwin, Defias Kingpin. Same principle of action, but the effect is more warrior-ish. You can either kill your minions with an instant attack or with self-damage, but the second option is not particularly effective in practice. The card has a fair effect for its cost and gives Rush Warriors some ability to buff their hand. The effect itself in my opinion suits the whole set and provides direction for deckbuilding. Although Custom Hearthstone is primarily about new ideas and experiments, there is always room for Legendaries like Battlemaster Gargok.
